MS50/T30-3 Aviation Headset

Using the MS50 in Gliders
This is a very good and versatile headset for soaring pilots. Some use it in it's standard configuration, with the
head band, but most prefer to remove the head band so their hat can be worn without encumbrance. In that case
they either attached the MS50 to their glasses or to their
shoulder strap.
For shoulder strap attachment, an alligator clip
can be fitted to the top edge using the screw from the Plantronics clip that is removed. A small cable tie prevents the
alligator clip from pivoting about the screw. The voice-tube pivots, so it may be swung out of the way when not in use.
If your radio feeds a cockpit speaker, then you may or may not want to use the earphone feature.
You can wire up the earphone even if you use it only to augment the speaker when you're having difficulty hearing.
It will not use much battery power. Or, you can simply not use the earphone feature. For shoulder strap
attachment, you can replace the earphone tube with a longer tube
(see 1/16” ID Vinyl Tubing).
Many pilots prefer the small voice-tube of the MS50 to a cockpit mounted boom microphone.
For the money, the Plantronics MS50 offers more possibilities.
