Luebke Wing Transporter
Contact Ralph Luebke
This Wing Transporter, built by Ralph Luebke, supports the wing at mid-span and
carries virtually all the weight. The greatest load you carry is the wing tip while
pulling the wing out of the trailer and placing it into the Transporter, and vice versa.
Using this Transporter together with the Luebke Wing Stand
makes assembly an easy, one-man task. First, use the Transporter to put the first wing
into the fuselage. Then support that wing at the tip with the Wing Stand and
remove the Transporter. Next, use the Transporter to place the second wing into
the fuselage. Finally, align the main pin bushings using the Transporter jack.
If you have a fuselage ramp jack, it works well to make the course adjustment at the
Transporter, then move to the cockpit, where you can see the bushing alignment, and
make the final adjustment with the ramp jack.
If, on one occasion, you will place a weight scale under the Wing Stand and note
the wing-tip weight when the bushings are aligned, then you can use this information
to make disassembly easier. The problem with disassembly is that you cannot see
through the bushings to know when you have the wings properly supported for pulling the
main pin(s). So, if you place the scale under the Wing Stand and adjust the
Transporter jack for the same weight used for assembly, then the main pin(s) will
pull with a minimum of sheer force.
